SUMMER PRACTICE CHALLENGE
We are all looking forward to a beautiful summer break (yes, I am, too!!!) but it is important that we keep up with a bit of practicing! I am hoping for a fantastic summer of rest and refreshment, both for myself and my students, but I hope to see all those skills everyone worked so hard at this year to stay sharp! So, I have a summer practice challenge for you….one that I hope will be easy! This practice challenge applies to the weeks that you are either home or staying somewhere with a piano….if you are out camping, enjoy the time outdoors. Here is the challenge:
Simply. Play for your breakfast! Now your parents might know the phrase “sing for your supper”…this is a little take on that and it is simply this, you must earn your breakfast by playing the piano before you eat in the morning. Our summer schedule is all over the place. We never know from one day to the next just what we might get up to or where we might go. But one thing we do know for sure, we are going to eat breakfast first!!! So here is my challenge to you: Each day when you get up, you must go to the piano and play some of your pieces and technique for at least 10 minutes in order to earn your supper. That way, no matter where your day might take you, you have nourished both your musicianship and your body! Easy-peasy!
Have a wonderful and refreshing summer! See you all once again in September!
